SensibleFootball
Football from one player's point of view: you take on a position – and after the final whistle you get a rating for how well you filled it.
SensibleFootball is football from the point of view of a single player. You take on a fixed role – from goalkeeper through centre-back and full-back to striker – and play it in over-the-shoulder, top-down or first-person view. The AI controls your teammates, and at the end you get a rating from 1.0 to 10.0 for how well you filled your position.
The game is designed especially for kids and their youth team: the Position School explains every position in a child-friendly way and practises it in a match, plus there's a season, cup, indoor tournament and tools for coaches. Anyone logged in with their Clanwirtschaft account reports finished matches for the ranking and leaderboards – and coaches see every kid's progress under “My Youth Team.”
To play, you need a free Clanwirtschaft account and a community that has activated the game.

SensibleFootball: rules & gameplay
All details reflect the current state of the game. Numeric values are for game balance and may be adjusted.
The match
- You choose a position – goalkeeper, centre-back, full-back, defensive or central midfielder, winger or striker. The AI controls all other players.
- A half lasts 2, 3, 5 or 10 real minutes; the clock still shows 90 match minutes. The teams change ends at half-time.
- You play either in a stadium with touchlines, throw-ins, corners and goal kicks, or indoors with boards the ball bounces off.
- Each team has 11, 9, 8, 7 or 5 players on the pitch. The pitch and goals adapt as in youth football – from a full-size 105 × 68 m pitch with 7.32 × 2.44 m goals to a 40 × 25 m mini pitch with mini goals.
- Offside, fouls and yellow and red cards can each be switched off. A foul in the penalty area means a penalty.
- You set the strength of your team and the opponent from 30 to 99 – from Sunday league to world class. The opponent plays normally, with pressing, a deep block, on the counter or with long balls.
Positions and skills
Every position has its own skills from 0 to 100. They determine how fast, accurate and successful you are. You can freely set your own values from 20 to 99.
| Position | Pace | Passing | Shooting | Heading | Tackling |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Goalkeeper | 50 | 55 | 30 | 50 | 30 |
| Centre-back | 60 | 55 | 35 | 90 | 90 |
| Full-back | 80 | 65 | 40 | 55 | 75 |
| Defensive midfielder | 65 | 75 | 50 | 70 | 85 |
| Central midfielder | 70 | 90 | 65 | 55 | 60 |
| Winger | 95 | 75 | 65 | 40 | 40 |
| Striker | 80 | 60 | 95 | 85 | 35 |
Position School
For kids from the youth team: every position is explained in a child-friendly way – the job, play with and without the ball, typical mistakes and a pro tip – and then tried out in a match. A virtual coach gives praise and friendly tips.
| Chapter | Players | Pitch | Rules |
|---|---|---|---|
| Under-11 (E-Jugend) | Goalkeeper + 6 outfield players | 60 × 45 m | no offside, no cards |
| Under-13 (D-Jugend) | Goalkeeper + 7 outfield players | 70 × 50 m | with offside, no cards |
| Under-15 (C-Jugend) | 11 players | 105 × 68 m | all rules |
- Each position has three practice matches of 2 × 2.5 minutes with three goals each; every goal achieved earns a star. Practice 2 and 3 unlock with one star in the previous one.
- Badges come in bronze (3 stars), silver (6) and gold (9).
- There's also a knowledge quiz with three questions, a glossary of 26 football terms, positioning training and special training, each with their own stars.
Season, cup and tournaments
- Season: your club plays against 3 to 7 computer clubs, optionally with a return leg. On every matchday you choose which kid plays in which position.
- Cup: eight clubs, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final. A draw leads to a penalty shoot-out with five takers each, then one more each until it's decided.
- Indoor tournament: eight clubs in two groups of four, 4 vs 4 plus goalkeeper, followed by placement matches up to the final.
- Team tournament: every kid plays against the computer in turn. A win is worth 3 points, a draw 1, then goal difference and goals scored count. At the end there's a certificate to print.
- Fair play: every team starts with 10 fair-play points; a foul costs one, a yellow card two, a red card five.
Two players and Wi-Fi
- With two players on one PC, you play on the same team or against each other, each with your own position and your own pad or half of the keyboard.
- Over Wi-Fi, two devices play together or against each other; in 2 vs 2 mode, up to four devices. The computer fills any empty spots.
- A tablet can connect as a tactics board: the coach sees the match from above, triggers set plays, changes the playing style or calls a time-out.
- Two-player matches on one PC are not reported to Clanwirtschaft.
Controls
You can play with a pad, keyboard and mouse or by touch on a tablet. Keys can be freely remapped in the game.
| Action | Gamepad | Keyboard + mouse |
|---|---|---|
| Move | left stick or D-pad | WASD / arrow keys |
| Look around | right stick | Mouse |
| Sprint | right trigger | Shift |
| Pass (without the ball: call for it) | bottom button | Space / left mouse button |
| Shoot (hold = more power) | right button | R / right mouse button |

| Slide tackle | left button | F |
| Spin: curler or cross | right shoulder button | Ctrl |
| Knock the ball ahead | left shoulder button | Q |
| Switch camera | Select | C |

With the simple profile, one button is enough: with the ball, tap to pass and hold to shoot; without the ball, you tackle or call for the ball. On the tablet there's a thumb stick on the left and the buttons on the right.
Rating and ranking
- After every match you get a rating from 1.0 to 10.0. It starts at 6.0; goals, completed passes, duels won and good positioning raise it, while own goals, fouls, cards and offsides lower it. For attackers goals weigh more, for defenders duels and positioning.
- Every finished free match and every Position School practice match is reported if you're logged in. Positioning training, tournament matches and two-player matches on one PC are not reported.
- The ranking is sorted by average rating; you appear on it from 3 reported matches.
- There are also leaderboards for goals, assists, wins and Position School stars, plus the best average rating per position.
- Without an internet connection, the result is saved and reported the next time the game starts.
Under “My Youth Team,” only the coach sees each kid's progress – stars, training, quiz, development and season; the kids don't appear in rankings there. For parents, the coach creates a secret link per kid, through which they can see only their own child without an account.
